Recipe book : manuscript, 1840-1860.

Household recipes for disinfectants, inks, glue, varnish, white wash, etc.; medical recipes for croup, bee stings, stammering, liniments, laxatives; and culinary recipes for apple butter, boiling rice, curing hams, elderberry wine, and vinegar, written in one hand in a notebook with a paper cover with "Recipes" on front. Attribution to David Johnson from f. [10]: "Recipe for a liniment for my lame shoulder by Dr. Dixi Crosby of Hanover, N.H. April 24, 1846 - David Johnson." Other recipes attributed to Hiram Johnson, Joseph F. Tilden, Dr. E.V. Watkins and copied from publications in Vermont, Maine, and Albany, N.Y. 6 leaves cut out before final leaf.
